This is my Pocket Page Treasure Book. This book contains memories and love from my entire family for my dad who is having an extended stay in the hospital. Our family is scattered all over the United States but thanks to e-mail, Facebook and mobile phones they were able to come together and send me writings and pictures to place in this book in a matter of a couple of days.
My family ROCKS! Love you guys <3
If you have any questions about the following tutorial, please contact me.
*2 pieces of 5X7 inch cardboard or chipboard for front and back cover
*2 pieces of 6X8 inch designer paper to wrap the outside of each cover
*2 pieces of 4 ¾ X 6 ¾ to finish the inside of each cover
*10X8 ½ inch paper for book pages
*4 ½ X 7 inch paper for inserts (If desired)
*3 Clip Rings
*Various Stamps and ink
*¼ inch Eyelets and a ¼ inch eyelet setting tool with hammer (Crop-a-Dile was too light of a tool for setting these bigger eyelets)
TO MAKE THE BOOK COVERSWrap the OUTSIDE of your covers with 6X8inch designer paper. DO NOT FINISH THE INSIDE OF THE COVERS YET!
Punch a hole in the front of the cover where you want your closure button/embellishment to be.
Thread your button/closure from the OUTSIDE of the front cover. Gently pull the button snug against the cover. Give yourself a 5 or 6 inch tail of thread/ribbon and adhere this to the unfinished inside of the book cover.
Use strong adhesive and tack a piece of 4 ¾ X 6 ¾ designer paper to the inside front cover. (this hides your work and anchors your front closure button)
(SHOWING OUTSIDE OF FRONT COVER WITH BUTTON)
For the back cover punch a hole just big enough to thread a piece of ribbon or twine. Thread your ribbon or twine from the OUTSIDE of the back cover and pull a 5 or 6 inch tail to the inside of the back cover. Adhere the tail to the unfinished inside of the back book cover. (Leave a long enough piece of ribbon/twine to wrap around your finished book once and around the closure button 3 or 4 times)
(SHOWING OUTSIDE OF BACK COVER)
Use strong adhesive and tack the 4 ¾ X 6 ¾ designer paper to the inside back cover. (this hides your work and anchors your closure ribbon/twine.) Now Punch holes in the covers for your ring binding clips. I measured the location of the holes at ¼ inch from the edge of the book covers.

ADD YOUR EYELETS IF DESIRED
HOW TO MAKE THE POCKET PAGES
Take 10 X 8 ½ paper and score it at 7 inches
Turn the paper clockwise and score it in half at 5 Inches
Fold the paper in half on your score line
Cut the tab corners as shown
Open up the folded paper and apply strong adhesive on the tabs shown below
Adhere the tabs to create a paper pocket as shown
(Fold up left side tape tab so it sticks to the inside of the right side of paper. Then your right side tape tab can be folded up so that it sticks to the outside of the piece you folded over)
Punch your binding ring holes on the open side of your pocket. This will keep your treasures inside the pocket :)
TO MAKE POCKET INSERTS
If you would like to make an insert use 4 ½ X 7 inch paper
Use your embellishments to decorate and make the book unique.
The work is in the decorating but it is the most exciting part for me. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and I would love to see it used in different ways. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
I made a similar album out of mini badge holders from a tutorial I found some time ago. I'm sorry to say that I am unable to locate the original tutorial to credit the crafter.
For my project I adapted the mini album techniques to create my pocket notebook. This is a very easy project to create and takes very little time however, decorating and journaling took many days. If you have any questions regarding this project please e-mail or send me a note.
Hugs and Happy Crafting! <3-Kim
